Going into fifth grade, I found myself at a summer camp. The youth pastor noticed that I kept looking behind me at the booth instead of focusing on the event up front. He gave me the chance to serve from the booth and I haven’t left in 20 years.

Since then I have volunteered at several churches, designed security systems for a multi-million dollar company, designed AVL systems for churches of all shapes and sizes, and am currently the Tech Director at a large church in West Michigan. I have a passion for serving others and creating the perfect environment for service and worship through tech.

Skill Areas: Project Management, Audio Mixing and System Design, Broadcast Video Systems, LED Wall Technology, Website Development, Live-streaming, ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, Network System Design, Camera and Security System Design, Sketchup Modeling, etc

At the age of 13, one of my friends invited me to attend church with him. I did and just loved it.  It started with attending every Sunday, to join the youth group, to volunteering to lead worship on drums. Music has always been a passion of mine and to be able to serve God with the talents that he is has given me is a blessing. With the love and passion that I have for music, I studied at Western Michigan University for music education and jazz studies. After my studies, I went on to play lots of gigs all around the world and was a music teacher at Rockford Public Schools in Michigan for 9 years. At the end of the 9th year, I felt God telling me that I needed to serve in ministry.

Currently, I am serving as the Associate Technical Arts Director at a church in Zeeland MI, and have volunteered with many churches in the West Michigan area either for their front of house needs or post audio editing. I am passionate about helping others with creating a great worship experience.

Skill Areas: FOH Audio Engineering, Live Recording, Broadcast Audio, Post Mixing Process, Davinci Resolve

When I was in Jr High I would beg my dad to take me to the youth group early, so that I could watch the band rehearse but also so that I could watch the guy running sound. Eventually, they let me change the lyrics for the songs in PowerPoint, and then in high school, I got my first taste of actually running Live Sound, and things have never been the same.

I have lead worship for churches and events ranging from 50 people to 5,000, toured nationally running sound for bands, worked for Apple teaching customers and employees alike, and am now the Technical Director at a (small but mighty) church in the heart of Grand Rapids, MI.

I have a passion for helping people unlock creativity and turn technical skills into acts of worship. Being a part of the tech team at a church to help further the Kingdom of God is an act of worship. I believe skillfully adjusting sound, changing lyrics, or even implementing new technology into your environments is the same sweet, sweet, sound to God as playing guitar or simply singing from the pews.

Skill Areas: Audio Mixing and System Integration, iOS and macOS certification for troubleshooting and diagnostics, Using backing tracks live, ProPresenter, Planning Center Online, Graphic Design for web elements and branding/social media

4 years ago, my life changed forever. It was my Sophomore year in High School. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life or where I wanted to go. And the routine I had become used to was changing drastically as my family was moving. The only thing I really thought about continuing was tech. Before the move, I had gotten involved in a little bit of tech stuff at my church. And since we were moving churches, I figured I’d continue doing it. Little did I know how much tech I’d be doing.

I started as a camera operator, and moved my way up the ranks to become a video switcher, and eventually into the position of the video producer. Meanwhile, in my personal life, I pursued filmmaking as a hobby. But when it came to graduation time, I realized I didn’t just want it to be a hobby. I wanted this to be my job.

So I pursued every opportunity. I made a video production business, become the content creation intern at my church, and become the tech director of a church plant. And I love every second of all of it.

Skill Areas: Video switching and video production, color grading, camera operation, filmmaking, photography, graphic design, social media managing.
